7 Recyclable Plastics

The 7 types of Recyclable plastic, their uses and their recycling logo:

1. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE) – Clear, Strong & Lightweight – Used for plastic bottles and containers etc.
2. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) – High Strength to density ratio – Used for anything from Heavy Duty Pipes to small plastic bags.
3. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) – Strong but lightweight plastic – Used in construction. It is made softer and more flexible by the addition of plasticizers.
4. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) – Soft and Flexible plastic – Used in Plastic bags, trays and containers etc.
5. Polypropylene (PP) – Low density, High stiffness – Used for Automotive parts, live hinges and textiles
6. Polystyrene (PS) – Lightweight with excellent insulation properties – Used for Food containers, disposable cutlery etc.
7. Other types of plastic – Everything else such as Polycarbonate – used in Eye protection, roofing Sheets etc.
